WHAT IS A COLD PLUNGE? 


Cold Plunging is a cold-water immersion (CWI) process that is less than 60°F. It is the popular term used to indicate an extremely cold immersion experience or a type of cold water therapy. Our cold plunges by industry leader BlueCube provide pioneering technologies in ergonomic design, flow rate, and customization. Renowned for its river-inspired cold-water therapy, BlueCube’s generous size allows full body + head submersion combined with dynamic water flow to optimize the full benefits of cold plunging. Whether you are a beginner or maximalist, the result is unparalleled opportunities within cold plunge therapy,
Like our other modalities, cold plunging is practiced in countries and cultures around the world, dating back hundreds of years. We find merit in wellness practices that have stood the test of time, and we evolve them to present a contemporary + signature Pure Sweat Studio experience.

WHAT IS CONTRAST THERAPY?


Contrast Therapy combines the powers of both infrared sauna with cold plunging to boost your body's natural healing processes for enhanced well-being. Your Contrast Therapy session begins with an Infrared Sauna session in your own private suite. After your session, step into the ensuite shower, complete with all-natural bath products.

IS THERE ICE IN THE BATH?


No. Our cold plunge temperatures are generally set between 44-52 degrees. Clients can customize the chill effect using the BlueCube water flow module.

HOW CLEAN IS THE WATER?


Our Cold Plunge features superior filtration including 20-micron filtration and ozone (chemical free filtration). We maintain a very rigorous cleaning and maintenance regime daily. In addition, our clients are required to shower before their cold plunge and after a sauna session.

HOW COLD IS THE WATER?


Our cold plunge temperatures are generally set between 44-52 degrees. Clients can customize the chill effect using the BlueCube water flow module setting - from low, medium, and high for maximalists. 
The same drop of water doesn't touch you twice without recirculating. It feels like a winter stream. This circulation flow maintains the chilled water and purity of the experience. Ask your local studio about its standard temperature setting.


WHO DOES THE COLD PLUNGE ACCOMMODATE?


The cold plunges in our studios comfortably fit individuals up to 6'5" and those weighing 350+ lbs.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR IN THE COLD PLUNGE?


Swim attire must be worn during your Cold Plunge session. Clients are not to plunge in the nude.

HOW LONG SHOULD I STAY IN THE COLD WATER?


For a cold plunge, a duration of 3-5 minutes is generally recommended, especially at colder temperatures. Each person has a unique cold tolerance. Do not approach cold exposure as a competition, but rather build insight, resilience, and experience cascading health benefits. Most importantly, listen to your body and always get out if you think that’s best. If you are just starting out, start at a higher temperature and lower duration. Stairstep your progress and determine your sweat spot over time. Once you understand your thresholds / limits, you can begin exploring different temperatures and times to increase your adaptation during a Cold Plunge.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COLD PLUNGE?


There is no exact number on how often you should do cold therapy in a week. Studies have shown that a cumulative 11 minutes a week of cold plunging yields optimal results. Cold Plunge is a practice, and for many – their path to feeling better + more energized. Keep coming back. Like any muscle you build, you will grow with continual use.

WHAT CAN I DO TO SUPPORT THE SESSION IF I DON’T LIKE TO BE COLD?


It can be challenging to fully plunge - this is a normal experience. Breathwork, meditation, music, and words of affirmation are great companions for mental focus. Our staff can provide guidance and coaching to ensure maximizing the benefits of the plunge through techniques like breathwork and mindfulness.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?


Always consult your doctor first if you have any medical concerns about cold plunging. You need to be your own health advocate! If you are pregnant, wear a pacemaker, have a history of blood pressure or circulatory issues, stroke, arrhythmia, or Raynaud's syndrome, we strongly advise you consult with your doctor before booking a cold plunge session. Cold plunging is not suited for everyone. *Clients are not permitted to cold plunge if they have any open wounds.

WHAT IF I HAVE AN OPEN WOUND?


If you have any significant open wounds, we will not be able to host you to a cold plunge / contrast therapy session. Cancellation fees and policies will still apply. Please reschedule to a time when your wounds have sufficiently healed.
